Fonner Parkʼs 200-acre campus, home to some of Nebraskaʼs largest and oldest events, continues to improve. What began as a home for the county fair added horse racing in 1954 and is now a full-fledged entertainment and show complex. The events center was added in 2006. The Nebraska State Fair built brand new facilities and moved to Fonner Park in 2010. Other improvements include the Nebraska Building, the Outdoor Learning Center, and the

Nebraska Law Enforcement Memorial. In 2023, ground was broken for the new $100-million Grand Island Casino Resort project north of the grandstands.
